Spring User Group Overflows Franciscan Life Center!
An overflowing crowd networked and shared strategies at the 2012 Spring Database User Group. DTS shared best practices in using databases like Raiser's Edge to query data and analyze fundraising performance. Comparing tools like Export and Mail Modules, the users explored the challenges of duplicate records, inconsistent record entry and managing the data extracts. Tips were shared to use partner products to paste data easier into Excel and to import data faster. Additional industry tips identified the growing use and successes of email and online marketing, but the need to document IRS, internal marketing and brand policies when using alternative channels. DTS emphasized the efficiencies of using the newer Excel tools including Pivot, conditional formatting and the sort, filter and "TRIM" function to clean-up data exports. Attendees discussed the pros and cons of balancing attribute and addressee/ salutation needs of spouses, as well as business rules to managed deceased donors. What a stimulating set of discussions!
